Since his arrest for the murder of Dr. Tiller Mr. Roeder has been revealed to have been associated with the Freemen's militia. This could mean that he endorses so-called "Christian Identity" beliefs which designate white northern Europeans as superior to peoples of color who are seen as inherently inferior. This particular Christian identity movement seems to be associated with the idea that Jews are the children of Satan. If Roeder believes that then it is safe to say he is antisemitic!
White the Freemen militias seem to have waxed and waned over the years it may be true that these old groups are still kicking or becoming revitalized. If Mr. Roeder is an ideologically and religiously motivated fellow then he could very well retain some of these Christian Identity beliefs and/or be actively promoting them.
It appears that Mr. Roeder was rather deeply involved with Freemen Militia ideology back in 1996 when he was arrested with bomb components in his automobile. Why was Roeder pulled over? Only because he was unwilling to buy a license plate and thereby demonstrate his subservience to what he regarded as an illegitimate government back then, the state of Kansas. He had some silly hand made sign saying he was a freeman or something to that effect and was pulled over. So that is pretty fanatically ideological in my estimation, getting busted with bomb equipment because you cannot use a license plate because of your Freemen beliefs!
I never heard what his bomb was for!

THE TILLER MURDER IS A DECLARATION OF WAR BY THE FAR RIGHT REALLY EXISTING CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIANS
It was difficult to find a picture of the shooter in the Tiller killing yesterday. You would see pictures of Tiller but not one of the assassin, Roeder. Today a few photos of Roeder are out there. I don't know what was so hard about having a photo yesterday.
The big lie that Tiller was himself a killer was about all I could find.
It was the endless repetition of conservative bias and conservative lies. The real killer of Tiller, Roeder was hard to find even without a photo of him.
More than a few Republicans and self-styled conservatives have stepped forward to say things to the effect that they support what Roeder has done or that it should have happened earlier or something else supportive of the assassination. With the anti-abortion zealots a good fourth or so of the Republican coalition such statements have been made and pandered to for decades. Tiller's death is thereby justified in the minds of millions of so-called conservatives who supposedly uphold a rule of law, unless someone disagrees with their interpretation of some Biblical scripture or something!
So what do conservatives offer Americans? It certainly is not and never was justice. Conservatives hate justice. They want the dispassionate enforcement of unjust law, not justice! If conservatives wanted justice they wouldn't base their ideas on the thoughts of slaveholders. Conservatives are always quoting slaveholders from centuries ago. That is what conservatives want, some sort of slavery with conservatives lording over rest of us.
Do the conservatives offer peace? It surely isn't peace if one can be executed with the complicity and cheerful assent of millions of Americans who imagine themselves to be holier than the rest of us.
Conservative applause for the murder of Tiller and the unconvincing "condemnations" of other conservatives underlines the totally reactionary nature of modern American conservatism today. As conservatives assent to the Tiller murder and admire his assassin the polite conservatives give their assent to their more rambunctious brethren.

The radical idea that any fertilized ovum is a fully developed human is the cause for which Roeder killed Dr. Tiller. Dr. Tiller's crime was to provide legal and medically justified medical services for thousands of worthwhile citizens of the United States.
This radical idea, that any ovum or sperm is a human being is neither left nor right but it has clearly become a tool of the far right and at least some militia trends.
The abortion debate has long been a proxy war for conservatism and established privilege. People like Roeder may or may not understand that and are in a sense patsies of sophisticated conservative conspirators
who are happy to try and extract political capital from the sacrificial crimes of assassins inspired by conservative values. Terry Randall hopes to gain as does Operation Rescue after the Tiller assassination. There is dancing in the streets of conservative Christian America. Then there is the unconvincing denial of complicity that takes place occasionally.
As disturbing as Roeder's murder of Tiller is it is the deafening silence of the respectable Republicans and the support of really existing conservatives for the assassination that testifies to the moral complicity of conservatism and Republicans in this declaration of war against the rest of us who are not gun totting murdering conservatives. It seems that the Conservatives are ready to shoot anyone who disagrees with them regardless of the the law. Isn't that terrorism?

Liberals, Christians, and Terrorists
The murder of Dr. George Tiller by right wing militia member Scott Roeder has sent shock waves through the liberal community. How can there be a dialogue about abortion if the only response from the anti-abortionists is murdering abortion providers? What if there are political differences that cannot be resolved by smiling and supporting Obama? What if white supremacists and fascists continue to incubate in our nation?
Of course liberals and conservatives point to the many so called condemnations of Roeder's handiwork by anti-abortionists. While some anti-abortionists sincerely reject Roeder's violence a majority may more or less tacitly support his murderous efforts.
So called condemnations of the attack often express "surprise", "horror" or "shock" rather than actually condemning Roeder's terrorism. The mass media is determined to scrutinize nothing and to accept any lame expression of any unpleasant emotional reaction as repudiation of this terrorism, which is not what is going on.
Republican canker Phil Kline condemned the murder as such and called for full prosecution of the homicide as such. Other Republicans express the view that they are pleased that Tiller is no longer performing abortions even though it was naughty to shoot him. Some express their childlike fantasies of a Dr. George Tiller in an lake of everlasting fire. They enjoy imagining this and I suppose there are more than a few who imagine such sadistic ruminations to be spirituality of some sort.
This is the fourth abortion provider murdered in the United States in the last twenty years. The far right antiabortion Christian fanatics have led a campaign of terror directed at abortion providers and women seeking abortions but mainstream enablers have denied this endemic terrorism in our midst.
Searching for the name of the man who was arrested for killing Tiller I googled two terms, "tiller" and "killer". What did I get? It was an extensive sequence of sites condemning George Tiller as a killer and mass murderer and so on and so forth. It was difficult to find out that a man named Roeder was being held for the shooting. The far-right antiabortionists seem to dominate the internet on this issue and frame the issue as they see fit.
Anti-abortionists tend to dominate in the mass media as well where they have succeeded in getting the journalists to constantly refer to Dr. Tiller as a "lightning rod" as if he was killed by stray electrical charges due to being improperly grounded!
Of course, many of these sites basically instigated the murder of Dr. Tiller. Scott Roeder blogged the Operation Rescue site agreeing that Tiller had to be eliminated to save the babies or something to that effect. Terry Randall exults in the death of Tiller but claims he is not an instigator of terroristic violence against Tiller.
If Randall is so confident why is Operation Rescue sanitizing its web site as I blog?
This is not to say that other issues were not unfolding in the life of Dr. Tiller's assassin. He had apparently been identified as mentally ill. Perhaps this played a role in him acting out the killing of Tiller, perhaps not.
I was surprised to see that Mr. Roeder is being lionized as a hero on the internet by a group calling itself the "army of god". The group admires all the antiabortion assassins. So here is this more or less open terrorist website advocating the murder of abortion providers. I guess good ole boy Christians can get away with anything!
Of course the mass media continues to ask about when the next terrorist attack will come. The answer is May 31 , 2009, the day the far right christian army of god terrorists or someone like them murdered another abortion provider!

Killers in our Church Lobby
Here in Kansas an ugly truth is being testified too once again. More than a Century ago there were the cruel wars over slavery and states' rights. The remnants of ancient tribes were wiped out or placed on reservations.
Yet after the post WWII boom many of these things were dismissed from awareness. Ever since we have been something like a nation of collective amnesiacs.
Timothy McVeigh carried out his operation against the United States Federal government in part by stopping not far from the residence to today's chief suspect in the murder of Dr. George Tiller. He was picking up some sort of component or ingredient or something in Lenexa if memory serves, if memory serves.
This is not to say that there is any connection between the two events except that the two schmoes involved seem to have passed through the neighborhood although this is more true of Tiller's killer who actually lives in northern Johnson County in the city of Merriam.
Of course Tiller's killer is suspected to be a fellow who could be anyone's neighbor here in Johnson County. I don't think he has horns or anything but his participation in religious services at his home is already in the news media rumor mill.
I think it is a tragedy for the Tiller family and Dr. Tiller and the community he served with such courage and self-sacrifice. It is interesting to reflect upon the courage of George Tiller as we wonder why lightweights have been appointed to head up getting healthcare for all.
We will have an opportunity to reflect upon the thoughts of the assassin if he is willing to be candid now that he appears to have been caught red handed. Was this murder a response to Obama's call for less extremism in the anti-abortion debate? Was this murder a response to Obama's selection of a pro-choice woman to the supreme court? Perhaps the killer will tell us and get the word out so to speak, the reason he killed Dr.
Tiller.
The far right has hidden and embedded itself in the midst of otherwise reasonable conservatives, people who are not at all extreme in their own personal conduct. And yet there is a hidden secret, that beneath the pretense of polite conversation is a dragon that threatens to devour anyone speaking out against religious delusions or even mistaken facts.
In our midst are those that believe the physical liquidation of abortion providers is their divine mission.
I understand that Dr. Tiller was gunned down while acting as an usher at his church. I wonder if the killer regards Lutherans as some inferior brand of religion? Was the killer religiously motivated?
I noticed a somewhat ambiguous statement attributed to some anti-abortion group. It did not condemn the assassination. It was merely a statement that expressed shock and "horror" was it? I think that unless the antiabortionists really condemn these murders, really condemn political assassination as a legitimate or understandable tool of their movement that we should realize that they are basically wanting to benefit from whatever support such acts of terrorism may produce in the Republican and broader anti-abortion ranks.
Of course it may be yet another "lone" deviant attack with political motives or religious motives that were personal in nature. Maybe, this assassin thought he heard the voice of god or some angel telling him to kill this person.
This is not to say that most of Johnson County is so reactionary as to cheer on this or other abortion doctor assassins. I hope to determine just how popular this is with people. Maybe I am assuming a degree of lawfulness in our conservative citizens that is unwarranted by their adherence to another set of facts or another loyalty, perhaps to their denomination, auditory hallucinations or cult.
It is always amazing what other people believe. We all have that conviction, don't we?
